A meditative
Family Constellations group

Family Constellations is an approach for looking deeply at our inner lives, exploring the dynamics that affect us every day, and restoring order.

Once a month, on Tuesdays, 9:30 to 12:30Next session: Tuesday, November 17At the Nest, Moshav Eli-Ad, the southern Golan Heights

A chance to pause

To look at our inner lives and what we absorbed long ago, see what really drives us, and help bring things into a new order.

In this small group, we finally give time and patient attention to patterns we took on, often without knowing it, as part of what was passed down in our families over generations. Patterns that still cause unease, and may affect the people close to us and beyond.

We also find strength.

With a small group, mutual support and professional guidance, and with meditation to help us connect and turn inward.

About the approach

What is Family Constellations?

Family Constellations is a systemic, intergenerational approach developed by Bert Hellinger. It sees each of us as part of a larger system: our family, the generations before us, and sometimes the society and culture we live in. Relationships and experiences we went through, or that were passed down from earlier generations, can shape our emotions, thoughts and behavior, whether or not we’re aware of them.

Sometimes we keep repeating patterns, struggle in relationships, feel stuck, or carry feelings without knowing where they came from. This work helps us see what’s asking to be seen, find where things fell out of balance, put them back in their place, and rediscover the resources and strengths already present in the system.

It’s done with careful listening and without judgment, and draws on psychological approaches such as Gestalt and family therapy, as well as tribal and ceremonial traditions and our connection to our ancestors.

How it works

Working with representatives

In a constellation, we work with representatives. In Israel these are usually pieces of fabric in different shapes and colors. You choose them intuitively and lay them out as a map of the question you bring. This gives you an outside view, a zoom out, that shows where you are entangled with your family story, and what can be given back to where it belongs.

For example, to a family member who went through trauma, or any experience they couldn’t face or process at the time. Someone in a later generation may have carried that experience, and perhaps we or our children carry it too. By now it can be a heavy, unnecessary burden. Giving it back brings relief and release, and makes room for a new, healthier movement.

In a group

Other participants help too, by being present and acting as representatives. They don’t need to know the story or its details. What they sense in the moment comes up spontaneously, and it can reveal sides of our story, known or unknown to us, and help us understand it.

And when you represent someone in another person’s story, without working on your own directly, the role you play may touch your own story too, so you go through a process yourself. Imagine standing in for a grandfather, a grandmother, a sister or a partner in someone else’s constellation. It’s for them, but the behaviors, themes and questions touch relationships you know from your own life.

Anyone in the group who wants to can also have a personal session and work on their own issue.

One on one or as a couple

Here the work is more intimate and tailored to you. You share your story without others stepping in, and we can use additional tools aimed at exactly what you need.

If this sounds a little abstract, that’s understandable. It makes the most sense once you experience it.

Who it’s for

With or without experience

Open to people with experience in constellations and to complete beginners. You can also come to a single session to try it.

This isn’t a training course. The sessions are for growth and relief, though you’ll learn along the way.
